I have a blue Rupes pad that I used for a while, but lately I have been using Harbor Freight fleece bonnets.

Change your brand of pads
I used the HF pads but just couldn’t get a consistent finish. A friend with a polished Swift suggested switching to these pad sold at PerfectPolish

I use one pad per grade of polish. Using a spur I can keep the pad usable for one complete pass. It will be black from the polishing. At that stage I replace it and move to the next grade of polish. The same friend soaks the used pads overnight in soapy water and then washes them. His wife must have a different opinion about washing machine use than my wife. At $14.00 a piece I just throw them away.
