Oshkosh and General Vicinity Next Week

I'm escorting my kid to EAA camp next week (getting an unaccompanied minor to OSH from California is difficult), then hanging around the area until it's time to go home. I'd be glad to meet up with someone from the forum and kill some time. Going flying and want to fill an empty seat? Building and want an extra set of hands? I just finished a -12 so I at least know how to do all the easy stuff :)

I can only walk around the museum so many times.

I agree - you never get to see anything but the show when you are at “the show”….but “seeing” Wisconsin right now appears problematic, according to the reports I am getting. It’s their turn for smoke…..

It just cleared this morning....finally! I had to shoot a RNAV to get back into KOCQ in ostensibly VFR weather the other evening.

Go fishing. Plenty of good lakes in the area. (Although Wisconsin is not as good fishing as my home state of Minnesota):)

Milwaukee has a world class art museum, and one of the best tequila bars I've ever been to was at our layover hotel by the airport with terrific sampling flights of finger food and 1/4 sipping shots.

It was so good I don't remember where it was or its name. It was a great night. Glad we had a late show the next day.

Good feedback guys, thanks. Plans for the week took a turn for the worse. I ended up sitting in hotel rooms watching the smoke, hoping I might get lucky 'tomorrow'. Re-scheduled the transition training a few times, but it never worked out. Trip was a bust for me, so back to the drawing board on getting some RV-12 time before I go fly mine.

The kid had an awesome week at the EAA Academy lodge for camp. This was her second time and she loved it again. Yesterday we enjoyed the road trip back to Chicago for the flight home while she shared her camp stories. One stop at the Russel Military Museum so she could see her favorite in person for the first time. Trip was not a bust for her, and that's what really matters.

Visit Green Bay and see Lambeau Field and their museum. (There is also a casino up there).
A bit farther is the Door County peninsula; maybe take the ferry to Washington Island.
Wisconsin is the Chicago areas vacationland, loads to do.
