Van?s is looking to add a team member to our R&D Prototype Shop and Engineering group.
We are looking for a candidate who has the following qualifications:
1. Is enthusiastic about experimental aviation
2. Is organized, mechanically competent and safe in a shop environment
3. Has strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
4. Is able to envision and fabricate prototype solutions
5. Works well as a supervised team member or solo and self-supervised
6. Is productive while maintaining attention to detail and safety
7. Enjoys working in a shop and/or office environment
8. Can lift 50 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, crawl and contort one?s self into the tail-cones and under the panels of small aircraft and otherwise not be limited by the physical demands of aircraft assembly and shop work
9. Is competent with Microsoft Office
Job duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Building prototype aircraft
2. Verification of instructions through assembly
3. Writing and proofreading kit assembly instructions
4. Fabrication of tooling
5. Maintenance of existing aircraft and aircraft components
6. Making creative contributions to product development
7. Hangar ?housekeeping? : floor sweeping, scrubbing bugs off of leading edges etc
The following is a list of attributes that would be beneficial but not required:
1. Have built or assisted with construction of a homebuilt aircraft (particular consideration to those with RV experience)
2. Have experience with composite layup and tooling fabrication
3. A&P or similar mechanical experience with GA aircraft
4. Piloting experience
5. Basic experience with CAD programs such as AutoCAD.
