New non LCP wing rib change.

Received replacement LCP ribs for punched ones. Anyone else notice they have changed to W00711-L (and R) and I see are backward compatible with W711-L etc. says on vans website. They are Notched every three rivet holes like the horizontal stab end rib. Less to do as far as fluting goes. Quite floppy when working with them but I guess no strength reduction as the vertical loads the same. Just interested in why the change? W712 and 710 both the same.

Obviously no one else noticed this change. I can say it’s for the better. So much easier to process these ribs. Bit more notch finishing but almost zero flanging required and no fluting needed at all. No nasty bumps. W712 on the other hand are all still un notched so need flanging and fluting as normal. I like the new design. And poof….just like that….all LCP parts in my plane are gone. (Well sitting in the naughty box in the corner for future resale fear alleviation)

The notches would negate the need for pressing the part from “O” (soft) material and then heat treating (as evidenced by having blue vinyl on them).
