I have started a panel upgrade and complete wiring update. I will be installing an AFS 4500s with full EFIS and engine monitor functionality. Trig TT22 and MGL V6 Comm. A few pictures of the progress are attached.
Cheers,
Frank

I had to travel for a couple of weeks, but getting back on the panel upgrade. Mostly wired, working on calibration and then tidy up everything.

Nice looking upgrade! Gotta say I'm jealous of RV-3/4 owners with such easy access to behind the panel for doing upgrades or tweaks... lucky!

I agree. I’ve spent a bunch of time standing on my head under the panel of my Glasair 1RG with various bits of the structure poking me in the back. I’m planning to upgrade my RV3 with virtually the same Garmin package as the Glasair. I bet the RV3 installation will take 1/10th the time because of the easy access. I’m actually looking forward to the process.

Yes indeed, that access makes this a fun project, without the chiropractor visits and unintended acupuncture...

+1 for the chiropractor / first aid specialist. Just finishing up a complete tear-out / update on an RV9A panel. Several months of feet hanging out of the top of the cockpit and constant cuts & bruises. 😀😀

I feel your “pain”, getting harder to squeeze under the panel each year. Thankfully I finished the panel a couple years ago and don’t have to do that anymore.

Finishing touches and configuration, panel is alive... tack dropped off and need to install fuel flow red cube...
