Page 26-20 Why are pulled rivets called out here?

I'm on step 1 on page 26-20 (attaching F-01425 rib to F00016 step attach). There are five holes. The plans call for using three 470AD4-5 rivets and two CR3213-4-2 rivets (shown in diagram below). I don't understand why pulled rivets are called for these two holes because I can easily squeeze 470AD4's there.

What am I missing?

For all of them? Two on each were not squeezable for me given the yoke options I have available, and I was thankful to have the CR3213s. I am quiet sure AD470s are just fine if you can make them work.

If you can do a good job installing 470’s they will probably be fine but are you aware that the Cherry rivets are actually stronger?

Now THAT'S what I was wondering! I was under the impression that 470's were stronger which is why I was thinking about using them here. Usually when pulled rivets are called out it's because of clearance issues. In this case I could have squeezed them which is why I was puzzled. Cherry rivets it is!

I used AD4-5 rivets on those 2 holes on each step wedment. I had to - because I used the optional 2 cherry rivets on the other side of that bracket in 26-17 Step 6. My squeezer wouldn’t fit for love nor money due to the tight angles - and Van’s don’t send you the “optional” cherry rivets.

Looking at your blog it looks like you used Cherry rivets, unless you are referring to different ones than I think the OP is.

Gday Scott - Pretty sure i used solids.

I believe he is referring to the ones on the 90 degree ends of the step weldments, not the ones on the other sharp angle ends. These ones:

I used solids for the 2 called out cherries. https://tasrv14.blogspot.com/2022/12/26-17-19-baggage-ribs-step-attach.html?m=1#postLightBox-29
