ARINC protocol

This is my first post in this forum, but I have been following this group and others for a while now.

I have been talking to Allen and Byon over at Byonics about some of the features of the new TT4 and trying to get ARINC protocol output. This is helpful for getting both TIS and APRS data to be displayed on a Garmin 396/495/496.

Byon is receptive to adding this protocol, but needs more information on the specification for ARINC TIS information. The question is does anyone have a copy of these specifications? I know that it can be purchased from ARINC, but I was hoping for a cheaper option.

You can buy the documents from arinc.com, you'll need to figure out exactly which documents you need (it's not the 429 bundle).

I am not aware of a free version of this standard, and I believe that this is an inherently closed standard, which means you need to "pay to play".
