Is the fuel inlet from the primer injected upstream of the intake valve?

I just had to replace a line and it dawned on me I'm not certain of the answer to this question.

For some reason I had it stuck in my head that it went straight into the cylinder. But the more I thought about it the less sense it made. Heat and pressure would obviously be an issue.

I think I've answered my own question but I've never actually seen a diagram that showed the location of the inlet.

Goes upstream of the valve, but most cylinders have two different ports that can be used; One on the top and one on the side.
