Can't pull CCR-264SS-3-2

Michael Burbidge

Well Known Member
I have three manual rivet pullers. None of them will grab the mandrel of a CCR-264SS-3-2 pop rivet. One of my pullers is sold by Cleavland so at least that one is a quality tool.

Does anyone have tricks to pull a rivet with a narrow mandrel?

Thanks,
Michael-

Riveting nose piece

Make sure that you've got the correct sized nose-piece installed on your rivet puller. The rivet mandrel / stem should be a fairly tight fit into this part. The larger the diameter of the nose piece, the longer it is usually which pushes the riveting collets further back and out, and they won't grab on a narrow stem.

I've set some similar pull-through rivets with both a hand riveter and a milwaukee M12 battery riveter successfully, from memory with a 2.4mm nose piece fitted.

Possibly also, there's gunk or chips inside the puller which stops the collets from closing up fully and grabbing the mandrel. Occasionally these need to be pulled out, cleaned & re-lubed.
