Priming the outside of skins

I have read a bit about primers and methods for priming the inside of skins and all the support structure. Wondering why people do not prime the outside of the skin at the same time? Seems like it would be a time saver.

Most wait to paint so they save time, only need to prep once. I a. Priming outside as well and will have to rough up the primer and maybe need to shoot some more primer before paint. Reason I am is if I have to pause the project for long term it has some exterior protection.

If you are going to send it out for painting, your painter may not use the same scheme or chemistry.

If you are painting it yourself, just wait because it will need Scotching and de greasing before painting in any case.

Don't worry about scuffs, scratches and things during build, it all gets covered up later.
