shortening bowden cables

I am installing the manual roll trim in my 8A. It seems that the bowden cable for that is a bit long and caused unnecessary binding. I am considering making the cable shorter.

I anticipate adjusting cable lengths for other bowden cables in the future, cabin heat, parking brake etc.

Is there any particular trick to doing that? Any suggestions or experiences?

Thanks

I installed and routed the spiral housing and then trimmed it to the right length with a heavy duty pair of wire cutters. Then pushed the cable thru the housing and marked the proper length with a sharpie. Removed the assembly, trimmed cable to length, and deburred housing and cable.

cutting cables

If you need to cut cables and hoses I would recommend using a dremel with a fiber cutting wheel. It will give you the cleanest cut possible.
