Need some insight

I got stranded yesterday.

Flew one hour, landed, and attempted a hot start 20 minutes later. Had difficulty starting, then I went full throttle, ICO with my friend on the tail...ran 10 secs and quit....assumed vapour lock and took the cowls off to cool the engine.

Came back 30 minutes later....my VP100 would not turn on. My ebus would not turn on.

Changed the MDA20 ceramic fuse at the battery...the VP100 would still not turn on.

I checked the ANL fuse at the firewall....all good.

Took the battery out....12.1 Volts on the meter.

I was at a loss...no tools, and out in the open.

Secured the aircraft and got on a train for 4 plus hours.

Any thoughts on what it could be....I’m thinking maybe it’s a bad battery contactor? Would that cause the VP100 not to power up?

Thanks

Just a WAG...

Don,

Did you try checking the J5 connector? Maybe it became disconnected?

I think the battery contactor is controlled through J5 along with having the 2 emergency power runs in that same connector.

In mine, the 2 emer powers are wired directly to the backup items and bypass the battery contactor, so to me it doesn’t make sense the battery contactor is bad.

Good luck, and please post your findings.

Fellow VP100 user.

The battery voltage needs to be checked with a load on the battery, the
heavier the better. Open circuit voltage does not tell much.

Thanks

Spoke with Mark....have to do numerous checks to find the issue.

May be ripping out the VP and going old school....

Cheers
