Insulation for heat from engine and muffler

Are you guys putting any insulation on the firewall or on the floors to prevent the heat from the engine and muffler.

Thanks

David

I did

I put some very lightweight insulation (fiberglass/aluminum /mylar coating) on the firewall backside attached via velcro so it can be removed, and ont he footwells I used 1/8" red silicon matting with a thin aluminum plate bonded on top so my heels can slide easily. Keeps all the heat and some noise out.

There are extensive write ups about this on this forum. Fireproofing and insulation is best used on the engine side of the firewall. The insulation will need to be covered with stainless steel foil or similar.
in the name of Hans und Franz, listen to me now and believe me later 😏

On my RV-3B, I put some .020 titanium outside a piece of 1/16" Fiberfrax for the belly. It's documented in my VAF blog, starting in post 366.

It came out really well.

I chose the titanium, grade 2, because it's fairly easy to work with and it's on the FAA's list of materials suitable for firewalls.
