Hung the engine

Hung the new Rotax 912iS today. One guy, one hour.

Back when I did N614EF with the IO-360M1B. Six guys, three hours. I'm liking the 12.

One thing I was curious about, given the way the 7A engine was mounted with the lord mounts, is that a castle nut and cotter pin isn't used; a self locking nut is.

I'm not criticizing -- I don't have engineering expertise -- I was just curious why that is.

Even with Lycoming installations, the metal lock nut has been standard in many aircraft for decades (and decades....). Van’s has finally changed it in the newer kits I think. AS we remount the engine in the -6 after overhaul, I’m going to do it that way - simpler and easier!
