When bending the HS-714 forward HS spar angle, despite carefully bending in a vice with a mallet, I over bent the angle to 7 degrees. I then tapped it back, but it went to 5 degrees and then back to the required 6 degrees. Is this part still serviceable or are there issues with work hardening or fatigue?

Hi Mike. I mis-bent mine the first time and called Van's. The response to the question was "It's kind off an important part..." So, I replaced it and was very careful on the bend the second time. I recommend that you do the same thing.

An alternative approach
I marked out the 6 degree bend angle on my workbench and made a wooden block with a radiused corner. I clamped the ear of reinforcement angle to the block and used the body of the reinforcement angle as a lever, slowly working up to the correct angle.
