Cleaning vents

I have a that’s taking care of an RV-10 for another guys and he had some issues with fuel flow and thinks maybe it might be bent blockage. Any suggestions on cleaning vents?

Thanks Kevin

The RV-10 fuel tank vent is just a short piece of 1/4” aluminum tubing. Replace it.

Better yet, do a simple modification to prevent blockage from things like mud dauber, and to have a vacuum breaker in case of ice building up.

The attached photo shows how. The vacuum breaker is from McMaster, part number 5492K51

The tail piece (the part that is out in the breeze) is a piece of 3/8” aluminum tubing that just slides over the 1/4” tubing. The end of the tube is cut on an angle and has a piece of aluminum screen attached with JB weld.

The Vacuum break is a great idea. It appears a cheap little check valve on a T would probably work just as well.
