AFP fuel pump with Aerolab Galscolator

Does anyone have an installation picture of the Airflow Performance fuel pump and the Aerolab gascolator?

I'm just about to pull the trigger on buying the AFP pump and already have the Gascolator. Just want to research how best to install it.

If you can wait a week until I get back, I can snap some pics of my install. I located the Aerolab below and just a little forward of the fuel valve. I wanted it as close to the spar carry through as I could get with bending the fuel line from the valve to the gascolator. The AFP fuel pump is inline and level with the gascolator exit port and as close as I could get it using about a 2” fuel line. It’s mounted on the Vans supplied fuel pump mounting plate that I modified for my floor set up. I put in an aluminum sheet floor on the stock Floor angle supports that is removable . It gave me about a 5/8” cavity between the bottom skin and floor. I am insulating the cavities with 1” ceramic insulation. The fuel line goes from the pump exit to the firewall bulkhead fitting. The stock Vans Dog house and fuel valve covers won’t work so I am making my own. I am really happy with how it turned out.

Garet---I did this mockup a couple of years ago----it was a 1 off, and not perfected--

Tom's top picture is exactly how I mounted and plumbed my Andair fuel valve to the Aerolab gascolator. My fuel pump is a little more forward and uses the Vans' worm clamp mounting plate.

Ahh, that's exactly the info I was looking for. That gives me some ideas how to work it.

Thanks Tom and Dave!

Tom...Do you have a better pic of that second thumbnail? Its a tad small

David----mine was a mockup. The 2 alumninu collars under the pump were to hold things until I could get the pics taken! LOL---no not part of the install. Buta raised pad similar to the RV10 filter and pump pad would work. Our biggest thing was to get all of tparts stuffed under the OE doghouse and valve cover.
YEP---with a little to spare.

Pictures of my install

It’s been a month almost but I finally got to the hanger and managed to snap some photos of my install. I bent the down feed line first and made the ends long for final trimming and flaring before locating the gascolator to drill and mount. Disassembling the gascolator I was able to get the final down feed lengths, flare the ends and assemble the line to the valve and gascolator. Gascolator resting flush on the bottom skin I traced the outline and drilled a couple of the screw holes. Then divined the center for drilling the pilot hole for the hole saw. Removed everything and used the steel drilling template to position and drill the screw holes, then drilled out the big hole with the hole saw. I two way taped a wood block on the inside floor skin with a 1/4” pilot hole for the hole saw pilot. I used a steel dowel as the pilot, not a drill bit. It gave a very nice clean hole. I put in a doubler also under the gascolator. I have 1/8” clearance between the down feed “u” bend and the spar. The line from the gascolator to the pump was made as short as I could make it. I used the per plane AFP pump mounting bracket that uses two worm clamps that I modified. I have a 3/4” space between the floor bottom skin and the second floor skin I insulated with ceramic blanket insulation and most of the wiring is in that cavity. Floor panels are removable.

I was able to dimple the screw holes and the doubler rivet holes, along with squeezing the rivets with a modified 2” yoke in my squeezer through the big hole after it was drilled.
