Sand/polish empennage prior to wing kit

Guys/gals,

I?ve finished my empennage and I?m 8 weeks from my wing kit arriving. I noticed some minor corrosion and scratches. I?ve already sanded out the corrosion but now the parts are not uniform in appearance. I know that someday I?ll paint the whole thing but I was considering a light sanding and polishing so that the finished parts will be uniform.

Any considerations? I know the elevators and rudder will need more light touch due to the thinness of the metal. Anything else?

Sanding will just remove more of the Al-Clad and promote more corrosion. Leave it alone until ready to paint.

I would scuff off the corrosion and spray a little self etch primer on the spot. SEM or Napa 7220. If you plan to paint the primer is easiely removed later with a solvent, but it will protect those spots till then. I have one or two spots on mine.
