RV-1 Tour - On to Sun'n'Fun

The RV-1 will have a place of real honor thanks to the Sun'n'Fun folks (and some good words from Joe Blank). Please come and visit us at Exhibitor site MD-21, across from the Van's tent. The plane will fly in Monday morning, following a Team RV escort.

We will need a team of folks to attend the plane during "business" hours and it would be great to have some of you folks come by and volunteer for a couple of hours during your stay. You'll be sure to meet a lot of RV folks! Drop by the display site or give me a call on my cell: 713-816-5259.

For folks who want to follow our progress via the Spot, current plans are to launch from Waputka, AL, early on Sunday morning to stage at Pilot Country airfield near SnF. You can find the Spot link at the lower right corner of RV-1.org.

Look forward to seeing you folks at SnF!

Doggone it!

The warm winter/spring has caused the wheat to really grow fast and now our wheat spraying season is in full swing!

I had fully expected to make S'nF a one day deal but now it looks iffy:mad:

Anyhow, we'll see what Wednesday or Thursday brings.

Best,

Pierre - the wheat has definited "popped" over the past 10 days.

I am looking forward to hearing people's stories from Sun-n-Fun !

another year of vicarious living

You know folks, this is going to be a very centrally-located spot in the middle of the display area, so we'd love to have folks that are tuckered out come and "set a spell"...espcially so that others can head out to see the show! anyone with RV blood in their veins (or blood that has been spilled in RV building is qualified to come help tell people about the amazing yellow airplane - hope to see many of you come help out!

Paul

I'm across Monday, stay the week. Should be at the show Wed, Fri, Sat and will sit and be rude to the Colonials for an hour or two while you get a break............ :D

Thanks, Mike. Look us up when you get during the week.

Paul and I got into Wahtumpka today and plan to head out with the RV1 in the morning

Louise,

Dang! Wish I had been surfing VAF while Daryl and I were flying down in the RV-9A. We passed no more than about 50 NM south of your location when we fueled at Greenville AL (F22). We stopped in Albany GA (ABY) for the night after a 1150 NM day! Ripping tailwinds all the way from Greeley CO. I'm sure we will pay for that on the way back... These machines are just amazing though!

You and Paul have a safe flight down to SNF. See you on the ground!

RV-1 is enroute to FL !

I received an email from Louise this morning that following some familiarization, they will launch. I just checked the SPOT tracker and they should be approaching their first fuel stop.

Eating a hot dog at KCTY

Flight went great down to here. We'll overnight near Pilot Country Airport to stage for the Team RV escort arrival tomorrow morning. Paul is practicing saying,"Give me 5!"

First, I want to thank Dan and Pattie for their hospitality once again! We had a great time collecting the RV-1 and getting current with it again.

Th trip down to the Tampa area was aided by great tailwinds, and we made it with a fuel
stop on Cross City. We managed 145 mph ias in the -1, and Mikey cooled fine at those speeds in Escort, sipping fuel.

We arrived at our overnight stop of Pilot Country Airpark, north of Tampa about 1400, and have had a great time showing off the ONE...and enjoying the help of the neighborhood as we replaced a defective alternator on Mikey.

The RV-1 will be arriving at Lakeland about 1000 Monday morning, escorted by Team RV!

Paul

Team RV and Paul... the red carpet is already in place and awaiting your arrival. The display area for the RV-1 has been moved slightly from the assigned location (thanks I believe to the Tent guys missing the mark) but it's a much better location - very near the flight line at Homebuilt parking and only a 30-second line-of-sight walk from Van's exhibit. The band and beer truck are also standing-by! See ya in the am.

I can only imagine the emotions of this reunion and the significance of what Van and that airplane have created.:)

Had a great chat with Dick, Ernie, Paul, Louise, and Joe late this afternoon and got to sit in the RV-1!

Looking forward to a great week!
