GPS Comm Port Check

Trying to run down a problem with my E-04 ELT installation. Not getting the blinking LED check on the pigtail wire with the GPS output going into the ELT.

Is there a way to check the GPS output? Am running out of things to check, so it might be there.

GPS is an old handheld (Lowrance Airmap). Menu setup looks ok - 9200 baud output should work for the ELT. ELT seems happy - I get the audio chirp when I flip it to the Armed position for the test. Still no blinking.

Thanks for any help.

That pigtail wire needs a resistor and led on it in order to blink. Also, check polarity.

Right, got that. 300 ohms on the positive side of the led. Was wondering if there is an arrangement of led and resisters to place on the GPS comm port wire to see an output that the ELT should receive. Not seeing a way to do that.

only way is to put a scope on it and look at the pulse train.
