Upper longerons twist

My upper longerons are bent as shown in the plans. They fit pretty well on both sides. Ship forward they angle in and down to match the weldment angle. This inward angle obviously should carry aft to the mid brace.

But further aft it seems necessary to rotate the angle so the outside face is vertical. The bend at the baggage bulkhead F-807 seems the right place to put in that twist up and out.

Did I miss the rotation in the plans? Or is this a twist to fit situation? Is my estimation of where to insert the correcting twist correct?

The twist is detailed in the plans. If I remember correctly, the twist happens between the fwd upright on the center section; and the firewall.

Sorry for the thread drift, but I notice that you have not done the gear tower access modification. I mention it in case you were unaware of it. If so, search for it. It will save a lot of blood and frustration down the road, even at the expense of backtracking a little bit on your build.

Thanks Scott. I’ve looked over the plans many times and I can’t find that twist spec. Can you help me pinpoint it?

It looks like I was incorrect. I was going from memory and was remembering the details for putting twist in the lower longerons.

The amount of twist that is in the upper longerons happens over a rather long distance so it can just be clamped in place to match the corner tabs at each bulkhead location.

Like Scott said, since it happens over a fairly long distance, no pre-twist necessary. Nothing a few c-clamps won't take care of. I just finished drilling my upper longerons.
