Preferred way to cover up firewall holes

I had to relocate my brake reservoir and need to plug a couple holes. What is the best way to plug say a 1/4" and 1/2" hole? Rivet a plate over them?

Bolt with large OD washer as required.

In your firewall?!

As other stated, bolts and washers are a much better choice.

If you pop rivet a stainless plate in place, use stainless rivets for fire protection.

Actually, yes, for my firewall. In the hole that is drilled to provide access to the bolt on the nosegear (with a fillet of RTV for CO protection). Per Van's:

SS FIREWALL PLUG
FF 3/4 FIREWALL PLUG

It is, after all, stainless steel.

Hardware store. I use the fireblock caulk to seal them.

I got several from Vans. They have different sizes.
