Defog/cooling fans placement

Where did you locate your defog/avionics cooling fans? How would you change the location based on your experience?

I'm in the Midwest where we get all four seasons, so I anticipate that they'll be defoggers in the winter and avionics coolers in the summer.

I have two Noctua 80mm fans that I planned to place halfway fore-aft between the sub-panel and panel rivet lines, and 9" outboard from center on each side (2/3 of the distance between the center and outboard rivet lines).

At OSH last month, I noticed that the Van's -10 has them closer to the windscreen and closer to the center.

Here is what I did on the first RV-10. Works well.

I just put them where they would be easy to get back out if they need to be replaced, and where ether wouldn't interfere with stuff under the panel.

In my case, that ended up being roughly centered behind the PFD and MFD, and about 1/2 way between the panel and the sub panel
