Does anyone know if having metallic paint on the wing tips affects the operation of the antennas in there?

I have metallic paint and my GPS antenna is in the wingtip and have had no issues.

In most aviation paints these days the flake is actually plastic.

Yes, the antenna can be painted, I have painted all the antennas I offer and have found no noticeable performance degradation . If you choose to paint please clean the surface well and use good painting procedures. Do not use metal flake type paint as it may negatively affect the antenna performance. "​

most metallic flake in paint is Mica, not metal. However, there are countless different types used, so cannot say that ALL of it is non-metallic.
