RV-14A Flap switch intermittent?

We have a G3X Panel from STEIN with Flap position indicator and switches in both sticks as well as in the panel.

While we were building and with the engine shutdown, we noticed that sometimes when we actuate a flap switch, the motor would not respond immediately and we would have to hold the switch for a few seconds to get the motor to respond.

When we started to taxi and then fly (engine running), we noticed that the need to hold a flap switch for a few seconds to get the motor to respond happened every time we hit the switch. However, after engine shut down, the issue only happens infrequently.

We are wondering if the higher voltage when the engine is running could be causing this.

We also noticed that after we removed some flap settings in the G3X PFD including the removal of the speed limit for flap actuation, the issue now only append when the flaps are going down, but not when going up!

Perhaps we need to change some settings in the G3X PFD?

If anybody has experienced something similar of has ideas on how to address, please comment.

Hello,

We have some ideas and want to ask you some questions about your flap position calibration and other settings.

Please contact us at [email protected].

Thanks,
Steve

I had a similar issue and swapping the polarity on the flap motor and re-calibrating fixed it.
